Our mission is to help you leverage your legal, technical and professional documentation

Lexum is a software company that designs and operates online information delivery products.

The company is well known for its impact on the Canadian legal sector, where it began operating in 1993 by collaborating with the Supreme Court of Canada to publish the Court’s decisions on the internet. Since then, Lexum has had the opportunity to provide a wide range of consulting, design, development, hosting and support services for many Canadian legal institutions, including the Courts Administration Service (CAS), Canada’s Department of Justice, and the Federation of Law Societies of Canada, to name only a few.

Lexum’s most well-known undertaking is undoubtedly the services it provides to the Canadian Legal Information Institute (CanLII) with respect to the design, development and operation of the publishing platform and activities of the CanLII website: www.canlii.org.

Today, Lexum’s clients include private entities and public bodies operating in all sorts of environments and industries around the globe. They range from private publishers and law firms to judicial institutions, unions, international organizations, non-governmental organizations, and more.

Lexum started its existence as a research lab at the University of Montreal and became a privately-owned business after a spin-off in 2010.
